KPC Media is honoured to have been asked to produce the video for the 2011 official Poppy Appeal single on behalf of the Royal British Legion. The track is a re-recording of the Bee Gees classic “I’ve Gotta Get A Message To You”, and it’s sung by The Soldiers with Robin Gibb also on vocals. The project was undertaken in collaboration with Vintage TV and was the brainchild of Vintage TV host and former Radio 1 Breakfast DJ Mike Read.

Within hours of its release the single went straight to the top of the Amazon charts. The song has its debut public performance in front of the Prime Mininister and several ex Service people at No 1o Downing Street.

The Legion’s Director of Fundraising Russell Thompson said: “It is the first time serving soldiers have sung the official single for the Poppy Appeal and we’re honoured that this great song was performed at No 10 Downing Street today, The song is incredibly moving to hear and reminds listeners to think of those serving in Afghanistan. We’re proud to be associated with The Soldiers and to have this song as the official tune of the Poppy Appeal in our 90th anniversary year.”

After a promising start, there’s hope that it will top the Official UK Charts for Remembrance Sunday itself.

The Soldiers – Sergeant Major Gary Chilton, Staff Sergeant Richie Maddocks and Lance Corporal Ryan Idzi – were aware of Robin Gibb’s charitable work for the troops and big fans of the Bee Gees. They approached Robin to ask if he would be up for a collaboration, and were over the moon when he agreed.

Sgt Maj Gary Chilton said: “As serving soldiers, it’s a huge privilege to be involved in something as special as the Poppy Appeal and perform at No 10 Downing Street. We hope every single person in the country embraces the Appeal and gives back to those who sacrifice so much for our country.

“The Royal British Legion is a wonderful organisation which provides so much practical help to the Armed Forces. It is there to pick up people who have fallen on hard times. For example, Ryan’s dad used to serve in the Welsh Guards and when his lift broke down, the Legion was able to sort it out for him, which was fantastic.”

If the single makes it to the top of the Official UK Singles Charts, it would mark a record-breaking six consecutive decades with a Number One single for Robin Gibb.

’I’ve Gotta Get a Message to You’ has been produced by the legendary Nick Patrick (Katherine Jenkins, Russell Watson) and Jeff Chegwin. Robin Gibb wrote the track with his brothers Barry and Maurice and it was originally recorded by the Bee Gees in 1968, becoming their second Number One single on the UK singles chart.

The single is now available from Amazon, HMV, www.poppyshop.org.uk and other leading outlets.

Parasport is an initiative created by the British Paralympic Association and Deloitte to tell disabled people about sporting opportunities in their area. With the Paralympic Games fast approaching it was decided to add personal stories told on video to the Parasport website.

KPC Media was one of the production companies approached to create the initial six video package, and we’re delighted to say that not only only did we win the contract for the work, but we also had an emotionally rewarding time making each of the shorts films. for the website.

Our first shoot took place in the Isle of Wight, where we met Christina, her friend Hanna and Christine’s mum, and we were aided by a gorgeous sunny early Spring day as we filmed the girls and their horses. Afterwards we joined the rest of the family and went for lunch in a pub close to the ferry before returning to the mainland. This set the tone of the rest of the series, and to be honest we were all bowled over by the friendliness and helpfulness of all our participants, their friends and families as well as all the sporting organisations that bent over backwards to help us. The whole project has been a humbling and thoroughly rewarding emotional. experience.

Please have a look at the website www.parasport.org.uk not only to see our series of films (there are links to all six of them on the home page) but also to see what Parsport is all about, namely to help disabled people find their personal best in any sport.

Thank you so much for your fantastic work on getting the case studies complete. They look absolutely brilliant and I’m so pleased with the suite of films we have now.

You’ve been such a pleasure to work with. We will undoubtedly have projects coming up again in the near future, not to mention further case studies to capture, and you’ll be our first port of call.

Sophie Tye, Corporate Relations and Communications Officer, Paralympics GB

“Back of the Net” is a pilot for a series that is currently in development. The show is hosted by Will Buckley and features Martin Kelner of the Guardian, comedians Bob Mills and Henning Wehn, who both regularly appear on “Fighting Talk”, and Darren Eady, who played for Norwich and Leicester during his career: Back of the net

The Daunt Debates are a series of programmes featuring top authors talking about their new books. We had a great scoop early in the summer when we filmed Hilary Mantel’s evening at the Daunt bookshop in Marylebone High Street in London’s West End. She was talking about her new book “Wolf Hall”, which then went on to win the Booker prize.
We also visited the offices of Private Eye where Frances Wheen was our subject. Wheen’s new book “Strange Days” examines the peculiar decade that the 70s became. In this show he chats with Will Buckley about paranoia, dodgy politicians and power cuts – and wonders about similarities with the state of things today:
